Project Management and Governance

The CBD Alliance governance structure consists of a board selected openly and transparently via the biodiv_civsoc list.  From that board, an executive committee operates to manage some of the day-to-day activities of the Alliance. This group was created in May 2010 when it became clear that the size of the board was making it hard to manage quickly the full range of business of the CBD Alliance.

The Executive Committee of the Board (EC) is a substructure, selected from within the board, accountable to and reporting to them, sometimes making quick decisions when needed, but recommending bigger issues/decisions to the larger board. 

CBD Alliance Coordinators are primarily responsible for executing the programme of work for the CBD Alliance which also includes facilitating the CBD Alliance Board, Friends of the CBD Alliance and the communications with the broader Civil Society Community.
